Engage the Elephant

Engage the Elephant

Happy April Everyone,

I wanted to drop into your inbox briefly today to share two upcoming Processwork trainings I'll be offering in the very near future.

You may know that Processwork is a approach that has had a significant impact on my work.

I first learned about it at an anti-racism training I was attending in Portland in the summer of 2019. During a coffee break, I asked a participant if they knew where I could find people doing deeply embodied liberation work that attended to our collective subconscious, spiritual insight, conflict transformation, somatic healing, and systems analysis.

They laughed and said, “Oh, easy — that’s Processwork.”

They were right.

Since then, I've earned a Master's degree in Processwork, and I am very close to taking my final exams to become a Processwork Diplomate later this year.

I teach Processwork under supervision from two senior teachers, and I'm excited to be offering the following two Processwork events this month.

This Wednesday, from 4 - 5pm Pacific, I'll be offering a free Bite-Size Processwork class on what Processworkers call Metaskills.

Metaskills is a term coined by Amy Mindell, and it refers to the attitudes, feelings, and style that a facilitator, therapist, counselor, or educator uses to deliver their ideas or interventions. They're not what we do so much as they are how we do it.

There are many metaskills, ranging from compassion to humor to mirroring - and the developing our unique metaskills is something we can give attention to over a lifetime.

Join me this coming Wednesday along with an international Processwork audience for this free class on Metaskills. Click here to RSVP and get access to the Zoom link.

And then - next Friday, April 17, my colleague Gregory Flynn and I will be offering a two-hour in-person workshop from 12 - 2pm at Phinney Community Center in Seattle called Engage the Elephant.

Engage the Elephant is a three-part workshop series, with two 2-hour workshops on April 17 and May 1, and a day-long six-hour workshop on May 22.

You've probably experienced the Elephant in the Room phenomenon at some point in your life. The relational atmosphere is heavy. Something need to be addressed, but nobody is willing or able to address it.

Come to this workshop series to learn foundational Processwork understandings and practices that will help you master the Elephant-in-the-Room challenge.

We want this series to be accessible, so we're offering it on a pay-what-you-can basis. Learn more by watching the video above and clicking on this link for more information.

If you have any interest in Processwork, I'd be absolutely thrilled to have you at either of these events.
