New Series on Conflict

Greetings Everyone,

Next month, I'm beginning a four-part series of workshops called "Use Conflict to Change the World."These virtual workshops will each be two hours long and happen on four consecutive Saturdays from 10am - 12pm Pacific. Recordings will be available for folks who can't attend live.

This series is a deeper dive into navigating conflict for those who enjoyed my Generative Conflict Starter Kit.

I created "Use Conflict to Change the World" for folks who are actively playing a part in creating change in their personal or professional environments, or in the world at large.

If it seems like a core part of your life or career has involved looking around the room and asking, "How in the world can I change what's happening right now?,” there’s a good chance this series is for you.

You see that massive shifts are occurring in our world, and you know you have your own part to play in creating a better future. Moreover, it's obvious to you that pushing for change means running up against conflict pretty regularly. It comes with challenging the status quo.

The problem with conflict is that it can be extremely hard. It can put us into altered states of consciousness where we unintentionally end up reinforcing the patterns we're trying to change.

This four-part series of workshops will provide you with tools, strategies, and ultimately a kind of relational hazmat suit to keep yourself and your purpose intact as you navigate the challenging types of conflict anyone who wants to create real change will run up against.

These workshops are guided by a few basic assumptions:

  • It’s not only possible to navigate conflict in ways that actually make the world a better place, it’s necessary
  • Navigating conflict well is always a catalyst for your personal and professional growth
  • Generative conflict can create incredible strength in your relationships and communities

If you'd like to learn more about this series, you can find a more detailed information letter here.

Additionally, on February 8, I'll be presenting a 90-minute in-person workshop at The Convening 2025: Our Liberation Is Tied entitled "Navigating Conflict Across Differences of Privilege and Identity." We'll be at Highline College in Des Moines, WA. Please come join us if you're available!

Lastly, I'm looking for communities and audiences to share this four-part series of workshops with. If you happen to know of social media accounts, learning communities, or organizations who you think may have members that might like to join me for this series, please let me know about them by emailing me at james.boutin@mailfence.com. I'm always looking for like-minded folks to partner with.

Sending you all lots of LOVE during these mysterious and challenging times.
